Ive heard that the footprint on these are simliar.

I am considering swapping my classic for a cube if this is the case.

the only issue I have is that the egg box will be on the wrong side for me  but I guess it will just have to go the other way around and i get used to it. I can add a door in the side of the run so I can butt the end of the run up to the fence.

does anyone have a real life comparison for th footprint of the them both side by side?

thanks

sarah

I'm afraid you must be confused as the cube is a lot bigger than the classic (I have both)

Look on the omlet site at the dimensions. Also if your thinking about your broody?? The cube nest box is large but has no dividers although 3 hens can lay at once...mine won't!!:doh: I spent an afternoon recently trying to make a divider and gave up!! Worried if 1 goes broody.....the others will hold their eggs in!!!:roll:

I think the footprint of the eglu + run and the cube = run is similar if you make the eglu + run rectangular rather than the triangular shape it is, then I think they are similar, If that makes sense, there used to be a birds eye view with dimensions on the Omlet website, not sure if they still have it.

YeS Chrissie, thats kind of what I mean! I was going to put the edging board things in a rectangle around my classic+run. on the basis that I will need to add a bit for pulling out the tray and the recangluar shape, I wondered if a cube would actually fit in this space?!

I need to have more of a search and see if i can find those birdseye pics!!

Thanks

The (cube blue) is fab! We were going to sell ours but couldn't bear to see our girls or the cube go  so now we've decided to get some more girlies. don't worry about the egg hatch being on the wrong side, ours is. If you are siting the cube and run up against a fence or wall, The run skirt keeps it slightly away from the fence anyway. We find it enough room to collect the eggs etc, you just need to make sure you have a metre or so behind the cube for cleaning trays out. I couldn't have the cube the other way round, I enjoy watching my girls through the window too much as the end of the run is near my patio windows. The garden roll or similar around the base is a fantastic idea as it stops so much of their flooring being scratted on to the garden :D good luck with it all

Hmmm, now I am totally confused!!!

The run space for the classic is (including skirts)

1.55 x 2.20. = 3.41 msq

The run space for the cube (including skirtss)

1.60 x 2.00. = 3.2 msq

So how can the cube be for up to 10 chickens and the classic up to 3?

The overall space taken up for the cube is less than the classic?

All this considered... I am definitely saving up for a cube.. Will suit my 3 little bantams a treat and use up less space in the garden!!!

Please correct me if I am totally mis reading the dimensions??
