Cleo got off the school bus yesterday into a big flood, which went right across the road, but onl an inch deep.

However, a surge came from when the bus stopped, & soaked her leather school shoes.

They are absolutly sodden - they weigh a ton!

How can I quickly get them dried out ready for school on Monday?

At the moment they are in the porch,which is glass & south facing so gets really warm - any other ideas?

I do NOT want to have to buy shoes when she only has 2 days of school left

We always put our wet shoes in the airing cupboard and for a quicker dry on top of the hot water tank

 

May not be the best way for preserving the long term condition of the shoe but if you only want them to last 2 more days shouldn't do them much harm.

I think you have them in the best place dont be tempted to put them near a radiator or use a hair dryer as the leather will dry out much too quickly.

 

A bit of polish will help when they are nearly dry otherwise they may be really stiff when she tries to put them back on.

You are supposed to let leather dry out naturally so the porch sounds like the best place, you could also stuff them with paper towel which may soak up some water and help them to keep their shape, other than that I am not too sure I think drying them with a hairdryer may ruin them.

scrunched up newspaper inside helps dry them out too. It may need replacing as it soaks up the moisture.

 

Schools round here all broke up yesterday.

I'd stick newspaper in them to help keep the shape and take some of the moisture from inside the shoe.....

 

or send her to school with trainers for the last two days!

I will be sending her in with trainers if all esle fails - after all it was hardly her fault,was it?

The coach could have stopped away from the flood................

Send her in with trainers on and a note explaining what happened.

 

I work in a school and we have students coming in in trainers from about 2 weeks before the end of term because the parents wont buy new school shoes

 

Any way I dont think that she will be the only one - everyone knows what the weather has been like dont they.

Trainers/sandals/CROCs ( ) - anything goes at the end of term surely.
