Gertie
No further activity (other than I put the bin in the garage now). Council & police don't seem bothered. I've kept the gates locked & we have requested that the lane behinds us is blocked off at either end by the developer who has purchased the development site behind our house. Thank you for asking! Gertie
Hmm, good ideas. I won't do anything to it for a month, then I'd love to make a wormery from it. Do you have any recommendations for how to do it, Egluntyne? It's going to be one gigantic wormery!!! I think I'm going to keep it OSH!! Now I have a plan... The Dogmother
I vaguely remember an online guide, perhaps on YouTube, on how to convert a wheelie bin to a wormery.
Egluntyne
is exactly what my brother did, right down to the chicken wire. He added a spigot type tap to the drainage hole at the bottom, added a bulk buy of worms and added a square of carpet underlay at the top for insulation. Gertie
Oh thanks Egluntyne. That looks really easy to do. Ive wanted a wormery for ages. I think I could manage to make that with no problems. Really good idea, as was the water butt idea but I'm lucky to have 3 of those already.
The Dogmother
Don't forget that you need to keep it in a sheltered position and lag it with bubble wrap in the winter.
