CharLeila
Hi, My girls are due to be wormed and Im unsure what to use. Any advice please? Thanks in advance. paul
Egluntyne
Flubenvet is your best bet. It is the only wormer licensed for use in poultry in the UK. Herbal supplements are available, but in my experience they are not effective as Flubenvet, but may have some preventative action.
Lewis
Seconded about Flubenvet. I buy Marriages layers pellets with it already milled in from the SPR Centre. Heygates also sell pellets with it milled in.
CharLeila
Thanks for you advice. I always used a pre-mixed wormer from Mini Meadows but I have since moved and struggle to find any chickeny places. Just had a quick look around and found some Flubenvet, just want to check this is what you suggest using - http://www.bhwt.org.uk/shop/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=129 Also, how long would this last for my 5 girls? Also getting some aplle cider vinegar for the first time. Do any of you use it?
Lewis
Yes that's the right Flubenvet - would last your 5 girls for 4 treatments, so if you treat the quarterly, a year. Apple Cider Vinegar is great - when I'm at home I use it the first week of every month. Remember you can only use it on plastic, not metal, drinkers though. The Dogmother
Don't forget that the one you link to is the powder, which will need mixing with your pellets as per the instructions.
atsw
There are a number of on-line retailers where you can purchase Flubenvet. Prices do vary a lot between the different retailers. Also, watch out for P&P charges, which also range from Free to £5! The link below will provide an up-to-date Google Shopping Search. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Flubenvet&source=univ&tbm=shop&tbo=u&sa=X&ei=vaN3Uf3DKMK4O4mOgfgD&ved=0CN4BELMY You will need to provide brief details about your hens at checkout (number, age etc), as it's a prescribed medication.
