The Dogmother
It may be just 6 degrees in the shade, but it's lovely and warm in the sun - at lunchtime today I saw a butterfly fluttering in some late flowers, and a bumble bee buzzing away too. Poor s"Ooops, word censored!"s, they'll freeze tonight! Anyone else seen any unseasonal beasties about recently?

Guest
We've got butterflys and wasps (gurt bigguns) today. The chickens are behaving oddly too - quite a lot of squabbling going on today.
The Dogmother
Oh yes, forgot abou the wasps - but they are seasonal anyway. Don't let the big uns in your house - they are queens looking for somewhere to build a next over the winter. You won't want your house full of wasps in the summer. Popcorn
Oh yes, been lovely here too today. This morning as the sun came into the garden, I saw steam rising up from the fence. Bizarre! we've had the odd bumble bee knocking about too. The chooks loved the sunshine this morning. Had a nice bathe in it they did. We've got quite a few of these around at the moment. They like sunbathing on our fence. http://www.butterfly-conservation.org/species/bdata/red_admiral.html
Chunkin
Thank you - what a great link! I think it might have been a painted lady, only more red than the picture on that site. Perhaps my description was a bit rubbish I'll look more closely next time! Thanks again
