henny penny
Just wondering how peoples cats get on with your bantam chickens. My cat learnt quickly to avoid the larger hybrid chickens when we had them. But know am wondering how the cat will respond to the smaller bantams ?
The Dogmother
My two hunters steer well clear of the banties; they've been chased off and pecked a few times.
mollyripkim
Both my older cat who I sadly lost last year and Merlin who is now a large 7 month old British shorthair leave all my bantams alone. I introduced him when he was tiny and he was more scared of them so he has grown up with them and takes no notice of them at all. He will happily stalk woodpigions without success, he is white so stands out!
henny penny
That's what I was hoping for! It was after seeing some bantams that were about ten weeks old- I panicked as they just looked ideal snack size for our cat !
charly1979
My two moggies seem to just ignore my bantums (though I do think they are jealous that the chickens get fed more then them but having said that Eyore seems to pleed starvation even with a full bowl) The other day I was cuddling Clarabell and Kanga came and sat with us all she wanted was attention too. I have been worried about a ginger cat who comes in and eyes my girls up and fingers crossed touch wood he is content in watching them ! Luckilly though hubby noticed him made a comment and I was able to use my fear of this to get a WIR, weather permitting its going up tomorrow (well it will whatever the weather im determined )

charly1979
Smudge little sliver tabby boy even got locked in to their run with them all (accidentally of course ...he has a fixation with their nestbox ) That reminds me a few years back Eyore dared to put her head into the girls house (pre the cube days) only to be confronted by Tullah with a very ANGRY BOK BOK BOK BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOK it was sooooo funny she has never shown any intreast since Our WIR is up yay and I think Kanga has eyed it as a sun spot to sit on top of I suspect ginger will join in too
