Broody girls are driving me nuts

Recommended Posts

On and off for what seems like forever I have had my girls randomly going broody :

Last week I am sure they were playing games with me, darting out of the house in the morning for food then sneaking back to the nest box Isla and Annie are the worse of them all !! I keep putting them in the sin bin but on Sunday Annie was making so much noise I had to let her out but she did stay out with the others only to revert back on Monday grrrrr

Then this morning I had 4 yes 4 all fluffed up in the nest box, luckily Marilyn was genuinely laying but it would appear that Prilly has decided to join in :wall: I do wonder if the broody cage 'sin bin' is doing anything at all in this heat.

Either way they are driving me nuts the little rat bags !!

Madness :D

But on the plus side it would appear that it must be Isla and Prilly that are the 'noisy' ones and since they have been broody I can go into the garden before the door has opened and I don't get the usual bok bok 'GET ME OUTTA OF HERE' bad isn't it that I am dictated to by 7 chickens as to what time I can go into the garden

Suzie also seem to spend more time broody than being a normal chicken - and she is a pekin too.

She is back in the dog crate, and in fact it doesn't matter she isn't laying any eggs because we can't eat them anyway because of the antibiotics the others are on.

Roll on Winter

Ah.........I did warn you Charly1979, pekin hens = broody madams :roll::lol::roll: I haven't put my anti-broody cage away since may!!!!!!!!!!! Infact there's usually a queue!!!!!

Martha has nearly frazzled herself with on and off broodiness....just out the anti-broody cage today, but went to bed first :wall:

They are bonkers I've decided!!!! Sadly probably sending me slightly bonkers too

lol bloomin Pekins they seem to have taught Prilly and Isla their bad ways.

Mind you Clarabel our egg stalker is being quite good, but little Annie is being quite consistent.

I did laugh yesterday when I went to the nest box to find poor Trixie trying to lay with Isla and Prilly sat on top of her.
