Swapping wooden bars for plastic??

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

Been scouring ebay for a 2nd hand eglu classic, they seem very expensive at the moment, I'm hoping the price will come down when the autumn comes.

Anyway there is one near me but it is an older one with wooden roosting bars, I'd rather have plastic. Does anyone know if the spare plastic bars you can buy would fit in the older Eglu, I'm wondering if I could just swap them??

The door is smaller and the roosting bars are different. You have a rectangular one and then in the Mark 2s you have one that is more or less square that goes by the door, in the Mark 1 this is not in one piece.

Wooden bars would not put me off of buying a Mark 1, I used wooden bars in my Mark 2 for ages and still have them in one of them sometimes. If you have two sets life is easier and if you know someone who is good with wood I would think it would be a simple job to make some more.

Going by the view of the egg port, that's a Mark 2. You have to be certain that the photos are of the item listed, and not lifted from elsewhere.

There is a 'sticky' at the top of this section discussing roosting bars. An article linked within it , done by me yonks ago demonstrated the difference, but unfortunately, some of the pics have vanished. However, the remaining pic is that of a Mark 1.
