Most of my Victoria plums went mouldy this year too, they stuck together in clumps and rotted. There was a lot of wasp damage which I think was a factor. I love plums, we have loads of damsons, and sloes around here but the only other wild plum tree is so tall that the fruit is inaccessible. This is a shame because it has lovely looking yellow plums on it.

 

We made some sloe gin last weekend and I tasted it for sweetness yesterday, pretty tasty already, the fruit was really ripe

I'm on a mission to pick some sloes this weekend too; there are plenty on one of my walks.

There's lots of sloes here too, but I have so much sloe gin still remaining from previous years I probably won't bother making any more. I went a bit mad the first couple of years I made it, and ended up with gallons of the stuff!

Plenty of blackberries though, and elderberries (really big and juicy and already processed into cordial ) and lots of apples too!
