gavclojak
My girls are being so productive at the moment but for some reason they don't seem to announce the fact that they have been oh so clever and laid an egg! They used to announce daily in the summer but have been virtually silent for weeks (not that I complaining you understand girls ) ??

Luvachicken
They are funny aren't they. In the Summer Queenie used to make a strangled goose noise nearly all day long, and if Gemma laid an egg she would shout (in chicken obviously) " I laid an egg !! I laid an egg !!" and then Suzie would announce to all of Hampshire "Gemma laid an egg !! Gemma laid an egg !!" for goodness knows how long. Fortunately I haven't heard the shouting for ages, but then that might be because I'm lucky to get any eggs at all at the moment
gavclojak
Wow if my girls were that noisy I think it would tip me over the edge! I live in a terraced house with neighbours both sides and very close...I would worry they would complain....my 5 girls are laying 3/4 eggs daily between them so, bless them, they are very productive
Ain't Nobody Here
Funny you should say that, mine have been virtually silent for weeks now. They always used to announce eggs raucously so I'm delighted .
Lavenders_Blue
It does seem to be a very random thing. Sometimes we get the egg fanfare and sometimes we don't, but there seems to be no rhyme nor reason for it.
Goldie
Similarly, we used to get a lot of shouting in the spring/summer, and none now! Now I think about it, it may be the 2 offenders are currently moulting, whereas the younger two are still laying yet I've never heard them crow! Oh well, we have to be thankful for small mercies
