keyhole kate Posted April 7, 2014 Share Posted April 7, 2014 I have looked at the sticky in Eggs however I am still at a loss my buff Orpington pullet belle was hatched in September last year started to lay a few weeks ago her eggs never survive collection as the shell is paper thin and I find it broken every day they are all on layers and have access to oyster shell grit and have a splash of ACV in there water she seems healthy enough happy bright red comb what else can I do any suggestions welcomed Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Blackrocksrock Posted April 7, 2014 Share Posted April 7, 2014 I have just had to cull one with a similar problem - large enough lovely inside eggs but shells banded round the middle, cracked and thin and if they are able to be picked up your finger went through them - dont think they get better! mimi5 Posted April 9, 2014 Share Posted April 9, 2014 You could try limestone flour. I had my oldest pekin start laying thin shelled or even shell less eggs earlier this year. I add limestone flour to their pellet porridge. Happy to report eggs are good now The limestone flour isn't expensive, I got mine from the feed store in the horse section.
