patsylabrador
If you hate flies and don't mind being a little bit evil, this is excellent. MS got one today and has gone on a rampage. We were plagued- in the house and garden. Now we are not. It is a bit gruesome because there is a 'zap' sound and a flash when you get one. The chickens didn't like it, I think because it emits a high pitched noise, so we could only deal with their run when they were in the garden but last time I looked there were no flies in there. Obviously we'll have to do it every day but tbh it was quite fun. I don't feel so bad because I had to do something and this is at least quicker than fly paper. I'm still going to try and repel flies with eucalyptus oil because thatwould be ethically best but I'm mostly concerned with our health and our chickens' health than the flies' health. MS got his from Amazon and it cost about £
Beantree
You've reminded me to get ours out Patsylabrador as we have a lot of flies in the house at the moment. Same sort of thing I think. Ultraviolet light attracts the flies into electrified elements. If you catch a moth it welds to the wires, glows red and catches fire. Very dramatic indeed, but we have been told not to put it near food surfaces because of all the bits of fly that get thrown about the area. WitchHazel
Thanks for the recommendation. Normally I try and live and let live, but the flies this year are a real nuisance. I've ordered one, hopefully this will be a quicker and less painful death for them than the fly spray etc that I am currently using.
soapdragon
We have a big hang up fly zapper in the kitchen which goes zzzzzzz every time it attracts and catches one and also one of those tennis raquets with electrified 'strings'. Its good excercise chasing flies round the house batting away at them; I can get rid of flies AND use up calories........ (Mind you, I probably look really daft so its a good job we have nets )
Lavenders_Blue
We have one of these. Hubby loves it and gets rather overexcited if he sees a fly or mozzy in the house The dog hates it and goes and hides as soon as she sees it!
