I'm thinking of getting an Eglu Go Up as I have a back problem and would appreciate not having to bend. At the moment I've got a Classic + run for my 5 bantams, which has been excellent in every way, except for the necessity to bend! Does anyone have any experience of the Go-Up? Is the Go as easy as the Classic to clean out? Would my pekin bantams find the steps difficult?

Thanks Chuckmum. I notice you've got bantams. Do they cope ok with the ladder? I suppose I could always cover the ladder with wood to make a ramp, if they have problems. My hub has just suggested getting a Stannah stairlift for them..... :D

My bantams have no problem with the ladder in general, but found it too slippery when I just got them. I covered the ladder. With some hemp rope and it seems to do the trick.

Cleaning is easy, but do not forget that you would still need to bent down to do something with their food and drink. And I would advice to get the wheels. Don't have them myself, since I have a tiny garden, but cleaning the run would be easier with wheels I think...

Apart from this, it's the ideal coop!

Mine zip up and down the cube ladder, they didn't like to go ladder as it was slippery I have added a strip of anti slip matting to it and it is now fine. Even my elderly girls have coped without needing a stairlift :D . Even my classic Eglu has a ladder (garden trellis) as it is raised (on a plastic garden table) in my WIR.

Just one other question. Does the shade provide enough protection from rain and wind? With my classic run I'm able to completely rain-and-snow-proof it in the winter by using 2 heavy-duty shades. Am thinking this won't be possible with the Go-up... Maybe it doesn't matter and I'm being a fussy chicken mummy, but I don't like to think of them standing out in driving rain or snow.... :?
