Hi

 

How old must hens be before they can be wormed using Flubenvet ?

My newbies are 14 weeks - supplier said to wait until 16 or 18 weeks - is that correct.

(Have googled but can't find info)

I usually wait until they are around 16 weeks old.

 

Don't let them have too many strawberries - they will ferment in the crop and cause problems.

We worm ours well before they come into lay, so about 18 weeks. I echo what Dogmother says about strawberries. We fed ours wild ones and had many cases of sour crop. Should have been more observant really. The wild birds didn't touch them and there is a good reason for that.

Apart from the odd apple, which is good for digestion, I'd avoid most fruit as it can cause more trouble than it's worth. Stick to a diet which is 98% layers feed and they will be fine.
