Ain't Nobody Here
Back to school today and I felt so fed up all I could think about was where I can look for a new job. I even asked YS to ask at the campsite he works at if they've any vacancies. The school was in a mess, nothing that should have been done over the hols has been done (reorganising classrooms/staff rooms/etc). Printers wouldn't work as cartridges hadn't been ordered. Internet wasn't working properly. Staff meetings were full of buzzwords/catchphrases/blah blah blah and we've got to sit through a presentation tomorrow - from 9am till 3.30pm!!! - when all we want to do is sort out the classrooms/public areas and get things ready for the kids on Wednesday. And nothing has been arranged for the child I'm supposed to be supporting on his visits to the high school next door so my job basically doesn't fully exist . Rant over, sorry . Purplemaniacs
Oh no that is not a good start to the new school year. Some years we have had builders in and have gone back to a real mess. I have to say I don't like teacher days (or whatever they are called) I much prefer to be with the children. I also don't like the last days of term either, taking down displays, I hate it when the classrooms are all bare. I like my routine I hope you have a better day tomorrow. Are you going to be expected to go with the child you work with to the high school? Our first teacher day is first aid training so it could be worse. Grandmashazzie
Gosh you're back early.I thought Scottish holidays were similar to here.We break at end of June until Sept.I know what you mean about those meetings. We had them in community nursing,so managers could give info on all policies. Then if there was an issue you had been told!Like you I much preferred getting on with the actual job.If you like kids ever thought about fostering? mullethunter
I don't envy you AT ALL. I taught for 18 months and that was enough for me
Ain't Nobody Here
Thankfully, my week is over now (I only work Mon-Wed). Things improved a bit, the course was really interesting, if a bit long. The school is still a mess but as I'm non-contact on a Wed, I made a start on getting things sorted. I'm no longer looking for other employment . (I'd miss my colleagues too much and it really is convenient, only 3 miles from home and lovely long holidays!)
