Lesley
Back to the Two Ronnies - the 'Fork 'andles' sketch and the 'You're crackers Milady - you're nuts Milord' which gets repeated every time Carl eats peanuts or we have cheese and crackers Kate can take up knitting a Clanger, Trish
Sheilaz
Brilliant sketches...and one where EVERY thing he said was letters of alphabet. I still say F. U. N .E .X. ? for "Have you any eggs?" and MNX for "Ham and Eggs" Trouble is, I then have to explain to Esther what I'm talking about. Very hard to explain. Poor child, she'll soon cotton on that her parents don't really talk sense.

Mrs Frugal
The Professionals was me, Trish! They do re-runs on satellite every now and then and I always watch them! The pitter patter of teenage heartbeats still happen even now when Lewis Collins is on - I still drool, post-hubby!! Fork 'andles - oh yes, classic!! Lesley
In a gift shop in Cornwall in Dacember - Carl and I in fits over the word 'Candles' - had to try and explain the whole sketch to daughter, SIL and son - they just looked at us as if we were completely mad

Sheilaz
Re Bagpuss...do you remember the mice "rowing" a slippper and singing "Row, row ,row your slipper, Gently down the stairs, Merriliy, merrily, merrily, merrily, Life's not full of cares" (or something) sung in ridiculous voice...I often sing it! Now then, Twizzle, Torchy or Sarah & Hoppity anyone? That should date me, so enter age competition! Does anyone remember them?
Mrs Frugal
Torchy the Battery Boy - episode one 1960 Sarah and Hoppity - created in 1961 Twizzle - 1957 It's amazing what you find when you Google! I've had my guesses, someone else can have a turn!
Lesley
Sheila - that makes you older than me? Edited March 11, 2005 by Guest
Blackrat
What a great thread, it certainly took me back. Anyone remember Fireball XL-5? I think that started my love of sci-fi and much later UFO with Ed Straker, its great that you can get a lot of these on DVD. As for comedy I still fancy Felicity Kendall (as she was then) in the Good Life, its a shame you can't get all of the episodes. Nicola H
The wooden tops that was one of my favs. I loved the dog his legs didn't bend when he walked sooooo funny...........
Mrs Frugal
I don't remember the Wooden tops but I have very fond memories of Fingermouse and Playaway. Summer holidays weren't the same unless Thunderbirds was on the TV though. What about Dangermouse!! Terrific!! Just remembered about UFO, Blackrat! I'd forgotten that one - yes, that was good. How about Space 1999??!!
Sheilaz
...And in walked the biggest spotty dog you ever did see ...we still quote that sometimes (but I can't think when its relevant, but we do) I always wanted a stabledoor type door that the wooden tops had on their kitchen. Still would love one & would be a good idea with wandering chickens but it wouldn't work with our house. When Thunderbirds was repeated in the 80's, we drove all the way to Leeds and back in one day (to see newborn niece) playing the theme tune completely non stop. It kept our toddlers amused but, 400 miles, I'm surprised S. & I didn't go mad When ES was about 7, we recorded him for our answermachine message "...I'm sssoorry, we're out on a mission..." a brilliant imitation...wish we'd kept it! Nicola H
Kate I liked Dylan the spaced out rabbit............. Emily's birthday cake for the bowling party tomorrow has Dougal on it......... It looks very sickly and sweet, she says she wants to keep the marzipan Dougal off the top better make sure one of her little friends doesn't nick it I can see there will be tears. Didn't Dougal eat sugar cubes.............. Ermintrude was the cow with a flower sticking out of her mouth.....
Bill
In the original French version Dougal was called Pollux He spoke in French, with a strong English accent, because the French find that amusing. Florence was Margot, Zebedee was Zebulon, Brian the Snail was Amboise, Dylan was Flappy (and was Spanish), Ermintrude was Azalea, and Mr Rusty was Father Peony. You really wanted to know that, didn't you
Mrs Frugal
Thanks for that Bill - you never know, it could be the million pound question on Who Wants To Be A Millionaire one day!
