soapdragon
The inimitable Ruth Goodman, utterly, utterly delicious Peter Ginn ( ) and Tom (not Alex!) are back next week! Instead of farming the trio are helping to build a medieval castle in France. Apparently its an ongoing project which is planned to take 25 years using building methods of the time. Our British trio are spending 6 months (apparently) 'helping' on the build and researching period building methods. Recording is already set here From memory its 8.00pm on Tuesday but don't quote me on that - memory like a sieve ! However, safe to say I won't be answering the 'phone for the duration!! Cinnamon
Oh jolly good...love them (but preferred Alex!) Peter is normally looovely, but he looks dead rough in all the promo shots for this series that I have seen so far.....hope it's just a glitch! soapdragon
Alex was on the final series of Time Team so maybe he has moved on to pastures new ? Having been heavily involved in living history (16th and 17th cent) before having my two boys I am insanely jealous and would love to have the chance to take part in one of these progs.......we stayed in some fab places; ruined castles, abbeys and old houses. All my kit is in the loft just waiting......... After the 'farming' themes I did wonder what, if anything, Ruth, Peter and Tom/Alex would do next and this does sound very interesting! When we were on hols in Devon last year we went to Morwhellam Quay where they filmed the Edwardian Farm and it was wonderful.......loads to do and very good value for money Well worth a visit if any omleteers are down in that direction! Alis girls
I couldnt think who you meant at first (was thinking Peter, Paul and Mary - leavin on a jetplane _ showing my age) now I am with it. I do like Peter hes so Heathcliffish and you want to chase him over the moors sorry got carried away there. Time for a cold shower I think. Lovely. soapdragon
Wow, that was fascinating! So many interesting nuggets...I had always assumed that the rushes were strewn all over the floor and hadn't thought about laying them in bundles but, when you think about it, it does make perfect sense!!!! And the bit about pot holes Simon the carpenter made our 16th style oak bed and the oak coffer bedside table.....it was lovely to see him again Mind you, last time we met up, he had long black hair I'm really looking forward to the next 4 episodes What did others think? PixieDust
Aw I missed it! Is it on iPlayer? I gather it's BBC?
soapdragon
It certainly should be.... I think these things are available on iplayerfor 7 days after the original programme. However, given that its the BBC no doubt there will be a DVD available at some point along with book, tea towel, t shirt, tote bag etc (the beeb do seem to 'milk' their 'products' )
Lavenders_Blue
I loved this programme I will admit to having got a bit fed up of all the various farm programmes (are Victorian and Edwardian farms really that different?) but this one was completely fascinating. Loved the lesson in how to make rope, and the giant hamster wheel crane was amazing!

soapdragon
Back they may be but, sadly, not tonight! As far as I was aware, there are a couple more programmes to go on a Tuesday but, having checked the listings, I can't find this listed for this evening This has quite spoiled my evening Edited to add.....silly me! Christmas schedules have pushed it back to tomorrow...same time, same place Boys break up at 1.00pm so will give me an oasis of calm to look forward to as mayhem breaks loose
