Ain't Nobody Here
Hadn't heard of this but it sounds a lovely idea. Not sure of the practicalities, like where do the chickens live and who feeds them/cleans the coops out. Some great photos but not a single poop to be seen . *click* or perhaps *cluck*! Luvachicken
Nope, I couldn't see any poops either It is a lovely idea. Stroking a pet gives a lot of positive feelings - with any eggs an extra bonus
Beantree
Chickens make for very cuddly pets. Having a slightly higher body temperature than us is noticeable and I've never been poo'd on when one has been sat on my lap (fortunately). There are some nice looking hens on those photographs ANH. As far as I know there are similar schemes in other parts of the UK. The hens are taken in to 'visit', presumably with plenty of anti-bacterial wipes to hand. Egluntyne
I'm all for it, but who the heck would have a hen in bed with them? That particular picture had me scratching my head.
Jen the Hen
I've been following the Hen Power project for a while, and it's great. I think it started in Gateshead, and they are looking to expand activities across the country. I'd love to get involved if it started close to my neck of the woods. I've attached a link for anyone who's interested in learning more about it. http://www.equalarts.org.uk/pages/henpower.php
Pottage
I work in London, and this was started up a few months ago. The idea is you sponsor a hen, then spend the odd spare lunch time with her cleaning the coop and collecting eggs and stuff. I think the idea is it will help calm stressed out city types. I think all these projects are lovely ideas http://inmidtown.org/our-work/chicken-coop/
Chickabee
I'm all for it, but who the heck would have a hen in bed with them? That particular picture had me scratching my head. I think I'd be scratching all over with a hen in bed with me. I'm pretty sure it's a pose just for advertising
Beantree
I like that London "stressed out city types" idea. Reminded me of a book I was reading last week which said that the origin of the word 'cockney' was a country expression for a townie 'cockeggy' which was someone so ignorant of country life to think cockerels laid eggs.
