Groovychook
And from me too! We've decorated our Yule log and are going to burn it this evening. I love the Solstice... such a cosy night and the promise of longer days and warm sunshine to come
The Dogmother
That's exactly why I love it too. We have a big bunch of mistletoe, holly and yew on the front door, and the yule log is ready. Bright blessings in all of your lives in this new beginning.
Lavenders_Blue
There is something very special about the solstices. I love the feeling that today is a turning point as we look forward to summer and longer days. There's nothing miserable about the shortest day of the year as far as I am concerned. Valkyrie
They say it's lasting a little longer this year and next year a bit longer again as the sun rises later and sets quicker. But either way summer is coming now - I can forgive a couple of days for it to sort itself out. Happy Solstice
PixieDust
I love all the Solstices and Equinoxes. I love all the seasons. I used to hate Summer when we lived in the flat because we were on the top floor and regularly hit over 30 degrees even though it wasn't that hot outside. The nights were the worst; never dropping below 27 or 28 degrees from June to late August. Since moving into a house with a garden, I appreciate it much more. So, longest day, darkest day; both have their beauty to me
