Information about ageing?

Recommended Posts

Thank you so much for all the suggestions and comments - which I have passed on to my grateful friend.

She says that what shocked/disturbed her especially was being treated as 'elderly' at the age of 66 - because that's not at all how she sees herself.

I can certainly sympathise with that because when I went into hospital a couple of years ago, I read in my notes that I was "an independent lady who manages/copes by herself" - I thought that made me sound at least 90 - which is disturbing when you're 51 (and think you look 31  )

I absolutely agree with what everyone says about the freedoms of getting older; but there is the downside of things not working as well as they did - for me that's been a shock, somehow perhaps we hope those things will somehow pass us by...

So another question - is it 'normal' for feet to get bigger as you get older? My mother said they did and my friend and I both have experienced this (although in my case I'm also fatter which might explain it! )

I'm not sure exactly - I know mine are wider and wear men's walking boots because ladies don't go that direction. My nan also wore boy's shoes for the same reason. But we were and I still am one of the bare foot brigade so no restrictions for our feet. My mum has the same sized shoes as she did when young, but she wears slippers and socks indoors. I definitely feel more comfy with at least a size and a half bigger than when I was at school. Thankfully I have stopped before I get to Ronald MacDonald sized. And gravity has a lot to answer for!

I know that your nose and ears never stop growing.
