Pro - Does anyone else's nest boxes get soaked in rain?

No not a chicken called ivy - the plant. OH and I are working on WIR and there are a lot of ivy plants not in run but around - will chickens eat it and if so will they die? I ask as when I got my Omlet girls they pulverised my rhubarb leaves and someone on Omlet said it was poisonous - thankfully they survived. Dont they know what will harm them and what won't or am I being stooopid

Mine mostly ignore the ivy that is creeping in from my neighbours garden. They did munch on my tomato plants, with no ill effects.

My chooks have pecked at the odd bit of ivy without coming to harm - not sure how much they ate and how much they dropped again, but they were fine.

I have ivy growing wild from my next door neighbour and its all over my back fence and the girls don't take any notice of it. I think they are pretty good at deciding what is good for them or not.

Thanks for replies - wild birds eat berries and things poisonous to us and dont die. I was worried sick the orignal 3 girls would drop dead after munching thro rhubarb. Try explaining that to people.

Well my 3 have eaten tonnes of the stuff and are thriving! They pick all the leaves off, so killing it, then scratch up all the long roots - once we realised this we fenced them under the bushes now and then and they have completely cleared it. Result!
