Lorax
Last June, and after some years of trouble free chicken keeping, our hens were all killed by a fox. We didn't get more until we could put a roof on our walk in run, which necessitated getting a tree cut so it all took a while. Anyway, yesterday we went to get some more chickens. We planned to get four, then five, and we came home with six! A buff orpington a black orpington a calder ranger a white star a bluebelle a columbine I've ALWAYS wanted a buff orpington so am very happy. (Didn't even know there was a black orpington!) I'm very on tenter hooks though because we've seen the fox once or twice since June. It's very big, very unscared of humans and various farmers have suggested it might be an urban release. Anyway, the walk in run is fully enclosed now and we lock them up at night in their Cube. It's SO nice to have chooks back! I keep staring at them. And so nice to have fresh eggs again. The black orpington laid her first egg as soon as she got here! This
gavclojak
Congratulations on your new ladies. I'm so pleased for you:) I have to say I find this urban release method abhorrent! It's cruel and unfair in the extreme
