Alis girls
Has anyone used a company to run one of these and if so could you recommend? I have googled it but theres loads and I know you can get a pack for use at home but we want to run one as a fund raising objective. Thanks
Olly
I have been to an organised one at a hotel, and it was ok but quite cheesy - as I recall, there was a rather elderly actor running it and he drafted in various audience members to read out bits of the script. Some people are better at this than others, naturally, so the evening was a bit stop-start. I can't remember the name of the company but it was quite a long time ago anyway. Inspired by this, my choir organised an event as a fund-raiser and we wrote the script ourselves, we had characters 'planted' in the audience with scripts and then each table had to guess who they thought was the murderer and give the reasons for arriving at ths conclusion. It was a lot of work but we really had fun doing it, if you've got anyone who's inspired to do this (you could use an Agatha Christie plot and just elaborate it a bit) then I recommend it. We just hired a church hall, provided buffet food and charged for entry. I have also done one for a family weekend, which was an online 'pack' - it was ok but there weren't enough cast members for my enormous extended family so I had to create a few extra ones. That might be an option if you want to run it yourself but not start from scratch? Sorry that's not much help to you if you're looking for a company to do it, but if you want to organise one yourself it is do-able.

Valkyrie
My neighbour has done 2 parties where we pop across at Christmas. It's quite fun - we don't have to dress up for the part which is a bonus. This sounds like the first one. I was lawks and blimey guv, which made my friend squeal as she wasn't expecting it. I think that sort of set us all playing silly devils. That and the wine. http://www.hostamurdermystery.co.uk/g22.html The names themselves would make Terry Pratchett happy! There are some for more people to do. Other than that it's probably best to have some actors and someone to be a patsy.

Space Chick
I met my husband at a murder mystery evening. He'd been assigned the role of "Papa Roni" in an Italian themed mob one. He came dressed like a proper mafia gangster and really got into his part!! he was so funny I instantly fell in love. Anyhow, as you were, you just brought back a happy memory (It was a pack one you could do at home that my friend did, hubby was friends with her hubby )
