kissinuk
For anyone in the Northants area looking for cheap chicken food, the Pet Warehouse in Corby (near Asda) sell Dodson and Horrell layers mash/pellets and mixed corn for £5.50 / 20Kg. Haven't got my chooks yet but have been on the lookout for local stockists.
Hen Watch
I'm sure someone in your area will log on soon with some local advice. Price sounds about right. I pay £5.25 for 20Kg of Dodson & Horrell layers pellets (GM free but NOT organic) from my local horse feed shop. If you look in yellow pages for horse feed suppliers or tack shops to ring up, many will sell poultry food too. I get garlic powder, cider vinegar, auboise bedding and layers pellets from the horse shop near me. Or www.countrywidefarmers.co.uk sell own brand GM free 25kg bags of layers pellets for £5.99 and sometimes stock organic ones. Or contact a feed supplier to advise stockists in your area. http://www.dodsonandhorrell.com has a stockist locator and lists 2 in northamptonshire. http://www.allenandpage.com (need to email as their web map dosn't work). geb0205
Hi there, Im near Thrapston so can only tell you about places over here... Dodson and Horrell Country Store in Ringstead sell both large (20kg) and small bags (5kg), the small ones start at just under £2 I think. There is another shop in Ringstead which, although is a horse tack shop and fishing shop, they can get both Organic hen food and Allen and Page hen food. They are on the high street in Ringstead (4 miles from thrapston) There is another place just off the A14 going towards Huntingdon called Manor Farm Granaries who do seeds and feed for just about every type of bird, plus all the accessories you may need for health issues ie louse/mite powders etc etc. If you come along the A6116 to the A14, go east bound on the A14 and come off at the 3rd junction you get to, should be sign posted molesworth/kimbolton. At the end of the slip road turn left then immediatly right (staggered cross roads) signed Brington/molesworth. Follow that road through the village of Brington, and just as you are coming out the other side of the village, manor farm is on the right hand side. Open 9 - 5 mon to sat and 10 - 4 sundays (can you tell where I get my chicken food?!) hope this helps!! PM me if you need some more help!
