Always on a day when I am flat out busy.

Winnie and Lily seem to have runny noses which is clear and doesn't seem to smell.

They are free ranging more now.

Is it ever a case with chickens that they get runny noses that are not requiring anti b's? Or should I phone the vet for some Tylan?

One of mine (bought from what I now think is a dubious source) had that for awhile

Took to vet, vet said just keep an eye on it.

Her eye also looked a bit troubled

But after a few weeks it cleared up without any intervention and hasn't come back

Apparently chickens can get hayfever too! Vet told me when I took Tipsy earlier this year.

Edited to add that I seem to be suffering a bit with it this year so the pollen count must be really high at the moment. I haven't had it quite so much in recent years, so the birdies might also have a bit of it.

Glad you rang the vet for peace of mind.

I was going to suggest keeping an eye on them for a couple days, not sure what the weathers like there but it may be that they're struggling a bit with the heat. Hopefully they'll be right as rain in a couple days.

Thanks all.

Just a catch up. All seems ok, fingers crossed. Gave them ACV and a garlic clove in the water for a few days. The weather has been very hot here and OH been streaming with hayfever and I've even been sneezing this year. So, perhaps it is hayfever.
