soapdragon Posted August 25, 2015 Share Posted August 25, 2015 OH bought me a new iron back in June (soooo romantic!) but, last weekend, it suddenly refused to heat up properly. OH took it back to another branch of the store, with receipt, and was handed an replacement, boxed, and another receipt. He got home with the new iron last night and, when I opened the box (which wasn't actually properly sealed), I was horrified to find the iron was still full of water and had scorch marks on the base Clearly been previously used, returned to store and put back on the shelf. I called the store straight away and, luckily, as the store line was busy I got through to the main call centre in Dundee. I asked to speak to the most senior person and got the Duty Manager who was horrified when I told her the story. However, although she offered a £10 credit voucher - which I did accept - she could only advise me to return it to a store for replacement or refund (as if I 'd have another one of the same brand/model after two clearly failed Tho I as hoping,as a major supermarket, they could deliver a new on the following day OH is getting another iron from a different supermarket today and I'll have to take the 'used' one back when I shop on Thursday. It reminds me of when we'd gone to Comet/Currys to buy a hoover, paid for the more expensive one and then the one they got from the stockroom turned out to be the lower power one-not the one we ordered.
