spott
hi everyone! I have my eglu sitting on 4 paving slabs in the middle of my lawn. Every few days i turn it so a new piece of grass is covered by the run. I usually do this when the girls are sleeping, in the morning they get let out to lovely fresh grass. Now due to recent weather i have circle of mud. The grass is growing back but so slowly that i don't want to let the chickens back on it yet. So i want to move everything to the front corner of the garden. However i dont want to move paving slabs in the dark, nit ask my friend to help me carry eglu+run in the dead of night, lol. Has anyone ever moved their eglu while the girls are free ranging? Mine usually get put for a few hours early afternoon and that would be a great time to rearrange everything. But, i am worried that they wont know to go back in and end up roosting in the bushes. Any thought?
mullethunter
Unless your garden is so big they can't see it I shouldn't think they'll have a problem. I've read that as long as it isn't out of sight they'll recognise their house.
Cat tails
Same here. My garden is tiny though, so they can't really get lost. But they will find home. You can always tempt them back with some treats.
Lewis
Yeah if its in sight I'd imagine they'll be fine. If you're struggling for grass you could always keep the eglu run permanently on paving slabs with easichick for them to scratch around in and then let them free range on the lawn.
