Removal of Neg Feedback on EBAY

Recommended Posts

I am very puzzled by a recent transaction and would appreciate any clues .......here goes......

In mid November I bid on and won a pair of Next chinos for ES. They didn't arrive. I very politely requested shipping info from seller and had a prompt reply saying she had been poorly and would send asap. They hadn't arrived 10 days later so I e mailed again and said hoped she was feeling better and any update on the trousers. Another prompt reply saying she would post asap. Another week later they still had not arrived nor had I heard from the seller so I opened a case.

The trousers arrived very quickly but there was no other communication from the seller. However, when I opened the package the trousers were dirty, marked and missing a button which meant that they would not fasten properly! The listing stated 'perfect condition' so I was not happy. I e mailed the seller to point this out and offered to send photos which I had taken on opening the parcel but heard nothing. I e mailed again a few days later but heard nothing. So I opened another case for a return (although I e mailed the seller to say either refund or return, whichever was easier for her.)

After the required 10 days neither e bay or I had heard so e bay refunded me. I then left neg feedback which said 'had to open case to receive. Item dirty/missing button. Seller did not communicate' I gave one star for everything but postage costs where I gave 4 stars. I thought this accutately represented my experience.

Immediatley I got an e mail from e bay saying they had removed my neg feedback due to the cases opened. WHY!? This seller still has 100% positive feedback in spite of listing incorrectly and having 2 cases opened against her and not corresponding. I thought that feedback was so that e bay users could report on their experiences honestly and openly but this doesn't seem to be the case here? Another nail in the coffin of E bay!

I find it incredibly that you are unable to leave NEG feedback as a seller, I have recently had 2 buyers not pay for items and looking at their feedback sellers have had to leave positive feedback with negative comments, I find it astonishing! In future try schpock, it's a boot sale App but there are no fees involved.

Try again without mentioning the case - I think Geoid's point above is correct.

Amazon have a rule that reviews can't mention the packaging. When I ordered a packet of seeds and they came in a plain foil packet with no instructions, I posted a review mentioning this and it was refused. I reworded it to avoid the use of the word 'package' and it was accepted.

The feedback thing is certainly broken.

I won an auction a couple of months ago where the seller never posted the item (I think they didn't want to sell it at the price).

Looking at their feedback, they'd done the same thing twice before.

I opened an item not received dispute and ebay refunded my money

But then the 'sale' disappeared

I queried this with ebay (I had left neg feedback) and was told that because I had had my money back, there was no sale.

So perhaps something has changed regarding feedback? The seller's earlier neg feedbacks about no item or communication stayed in his profile. Mine didn't

Having now realised why the feedback was removed I have gone back to try and leave feedback again as I don't feel that tits right that this seller still has 100% pos after this horrendous transaction. The item is still listed in my purchase history but the feedback option is no longer available so it seems that I have burned my boats

I always thought that leaving honest feedback was to keep other buyers updated about a sellers performance  On several occasions I have decided not to bid on item that I was interested in due to the poor feedback available. So much for e bay being open and honest!

Quite agree! Given the fact that I didn't know you couldn't mention a case as its not actually made very clear without going into huge detail (and that E bay would have been able to see the history of the dispute anyway)it seems harsh as I wanted to warn others that this seller may not be as reliable as they would wish - putting it rather politely!
