Chickabee
I was reading an American site which suggests they can, has anyone done this ? I've got a couple of big oak trees in my garden. Would only give them as a treat
Luvachicken
I know wood pigeons eat them but I don't know about ducks. If you want any extra acorns let me know
Luvachicken
I just looked on the internet and in America they seem to think the ducks love them and that they are good for them. Don't know if that makes it OK though.
Chickabee
Yes I read those posts. Would like someone else's opinion though
Cat tails
Most Dutch sites name acorns as a part of the diet of wild ducks. They do say that unripe acorns can be toxic to animals like horses and cows. They are apparently also a laxative. But as it apparently is part of the diet of wild ducks, it can't be bad right? Chickabee
Sounds good. Not sure about the laxative bit . They already make their fair share of poop
Cat tails
Laxative bit was mentioned with the cattle and horses though. But just so you know if you decide to tuck in yourself!
