Monty14
Hi My two rescue hens who have laid consistently all winter have suddenly stopped laying. Neither is moulting or broody. They both love dried mealworm but one has lost interest in this and also mixed corn, which is very odd. Both have good red combs, healthy weight, etc. They seemed to go off lay as the rest of the flock started up again. Any ideas? Grandmashazzie
Are you sure no egg eaters? I found with my exes their shells got very thin and either when they tapped egg or someone else did it broke and was eaten by flock. I have one at moment who is laying very large, very thin shelled egg. Sometimes we find it with little hole, and sometimes faint staining in nest box where it has been. Ursula123
If they free range do they have a secret nest in the garden somewhere
Monty14
Definitely no egg eating, did discover a couple of thinner shelled eggs the last time they laid. I am aware hat being rescue girls they may just stop after such intensive laying early on, but it's worrying that they've gone off their favourite treats. Monty14
Sadly Bartlett was taken to the vet as she was so pale and had lost weight. She had tumours in her stomach and had to be sent to the sky coop. Hendley is now looking better and fingers crossed.
