Alis girls
I live in NW London and a mature somewhat overgrown despite our best efforts. The girls are in a WIR at the bottom and the wire is stuff recommended for use by a well known chicken magazine. Today when cleaning out girls there was a weird smell - its not a chickeny smell ( you all know the chicken smell) - i dont know if its a plant but cant say I have noticed it before. All cats accounted for. Do foxes leave a smell? Couldnt find any fox pooh or body to account for smell or any evidense of a lot of flies. Thanks
sjp
yes they sent mark a bit like the scent of a tom cat but stronger and not as much of a stale urine smell. I think the do a little puddle on the ground as opposed to a cat spraying the base of tail height
mullethunter
Yes foxes leave a really strong musky smell
Olly
They stink, as said above its a musky smell - once you know what it is, it's unmistakable. They often defecate in really obvious places as a sort of 'message' - so if you find something on the path or on top of a wall or something like that then it's likely to be a fox, not a cat. Alis girls
OMG I re-read this and so many mistakes in the first line. I must have been half asleep. Thanks to those people who managed to fathom out what I was gibbering about and sorry to those who probably thought not worth it. OH and I are going to don wellies and investigate. Olly
I assumed it was the garden that is 'mature and somewhat overgrown', not you and your OH! Although come to think of it, that would describe me pretty accurately. Foxes don't like disturbance or change, so cutting back undergrowth and tidying up any wild bits can help to deter them. sjp
fox poo is normally a black and small 'strip' cats tend to poo in soft soil and most time bury it through if they've been 'doctored' they don't always bury it they will also used overgrown grass as the toilet and the poo is size for size bigger than a fox more dog like
Alis girls
Thanks Olly -actually describes me and OH to a tee - had a look tonight - couldnt smell it - OH reckoned girlies were a tad ripe (they are due a run clean) but its not that I smell more in the mornings. So none the wiser.
Alis girls
We've decided it's probably a plant and I haven't forgiven OH for saying girls run was a tad ripe.
