Three days broody jail hasn't worked!!

Recommended Posts

I've had my broody serama in the broody cage for three days and nights. I took her out this morning and straightaway she headed for the nestbox and squawked at me when I pulled her out! I've put her back in the cage but do you think I should let her free-range this afternoon otherwise I'm scared she's going to lose the use of her legs!! :-0

Almost the exact same thing hapenned with my Wyandotte bantam Penny. But when I picked her out of the nest box and shut the Cube, after a few times of trying to get in she gave up and went off with the others. I did block the nest box overnight to make sure she perched with the others, and then she was fine.

On a separate note, this was a couple of weeks ago, and I am now concerned that she's started laying somewhere I can't find!

Thanks Clare and Jenny! :-)

I let her free-range yesterday afternoon and then popped her back in broody jail. God she's so nasty with the others at the moment, I think they were all relieved when I 'incarcerated' her again! :-0 She needs to hurry up because I have another who is definitely 'thinking' about being broody too!!

Jenny, I'm doing the hunt the egg too!! One of my seramas never lays in the nest box - she will literally lay anywhere and everywhere and she doesn't even do an egg announcement. :-0
