Luvachicken
Our gutters are full of the neighbour's pine needles, beech masts, leaves and no doubt acorns We also have a leak in our roof, totally unrelated, but the guy who checked it said our gutters were full of stuff. We were wondering about that Hedgehog gutter stuff and if anyone uses it. Is it any good ? Does it mean that any tree waste will land on it and by the roof and then get blown away ? Or does it mean the tree waste will just gather there instead damaging a different part of our roof ? Thanks for any advice
sjp
I've not used it but I have seen it used basically it fills the gutter so that leave can't.the beech mast and acorns would be stopped not sure about pine needles but it should stop a fair few of them. you will still get dirt dust and sand in the gutters but it should reduce the cleaning to at least every other year or 2 instead of every year if you price it up watch the length at different suppliers some only sell it at 4m lengths other 5 or 5.5m and I have seen it 3m
Cat tails
I have one of those gutter sweeping thingies. It's basically a long stick with a hook and a scoop on the end of it. I hate cleaning gutters, but this is easy piecy and practically just sweeping the thing along the gutter and all the stuff falls out at the end of the gutter. Providing you have an end to your gutter though.
Charlottechicken
Following this with interest! We have exactly the same problem, neighbour has a massive pine tree and several silver birch. I fill two buckets every time I clean the gutters out, which is twice a year. Having said that, I've noticed the gutters are already full again and I only cleared them 3 months ago. We tried the mesh, which surprisingly did stop some of the pine needles, but is very fiddly to put back after cleaning.

I was thinking when the men come to fix the roof they could put the stuff in the gutter at the same time.
