Has anyone bought the Omlet chicken perch yet? 

I won a €50 voucher from Omlet with a Facebook thingy, so trying to figure out what to get. But the perches are €20 which I find a bit hefty. So I was wondering if anyone has any experience with them.

I’ve just had a look at it.  Seems expensive for what it is.   I had a feeling that round perches aren’t good for their feet.

That’s what I thought too regarding the round perches. They now have two bits of spare wood, both square. I might need to find something else to buy.

I've put one in my Go Up - it doesn't get used much.  It has split right the way along the length but is holding up.  Just wondering what is wrong with round perches as branches are round?

Can’t remember where I heard it.  I use flat pieces of wood between the bars with nails hanging down outside the run  ( sharp side hammered into the wood so not sharp).  Stops it slipping. Doesn’t cost anything as I use off cuts people give me. Varnish first and clean frequently to avoid red mite.

Think round wood could promote bumble foot, but not sure about that.

I made small slits in the wood on either side, which fit snugly over the run wire, so they stay in place. Well, most of the time. My new hen is rather a heavyweight.

I’ve had a perch bought for me but I’ve haven’t fitted it yet because I can’t decide where to put it. The run is currently full of random bits of wood used as perches! It’s quite wide - I think it would be fine for bantam feet, but I agree it’s expensive for what it is - as with most Omlet stuff.
