10 in a Cube?

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

Just wondering if anyone has 10 chickens in a Cube and, if so, how big a run do you have? I've got 6 gorgeous girls in a Cube with the extended run, but have 4 more on order, and am worried that the run may not be big enough for 10. My girls free-range all day, so they wouldn't be confined to the run all the time, but I'd welcome any advice/opinions.

Thanks in advance!

im only gonna go to 8 in a cube! maybe theres plenty of room but i personally thing maybe 10 be a tight squeeze!. oh i have reasonably sized home made run that the cube and hens live in!

I have eight big girls in my Cube, with another two reserved - my Orpingtons are getting pretty large now (I have three of them), and the Buff Sussex aren't insubstantial ladies. the two to come are Cochins - another heavy breed.

I don't have any problems with space - unless a couple of the girls decide to sit in the doorway on the way in at night, then I get one or two outside hopping from foot to foot until they eventually go up and barge their way through! Mind you, theres a lot of poo!

I don't have an Omlet run - mine are in a homemade run which is bigger.
