Gallina
Here is an idea we could adopt over here: chickens are part of Flanders' system of taxes and incentives to reduce its waste mountain. (Obviously Belgians don't give their hens flown-in items like grapes: just old bones.)
moochoo
Quite right too. We should get reduced council tax, for helping the environment and generally having great taste in pets
Egluntyne
It all seems very far sighted and realistic to me.
Lesley
Some really good ideas there - but can you imagine what DEFRA would have to say about feeding bones to hens
Egluntyne
I can't quite see how a chicken could manage to eat a bone...what with having no teeth and everything.
Jules.
Mine once ate a bit of lamb chop bone that was destined for the cats... but it was a tiny piece.
Richard
I saw a programme on the TV which said that somewhere in Belgium they had removed all the street signs in a town (or maybe it was just a section of the town - I can't remember). All the turn left, turn right, don't park, do park. beware low flying chickens, don't go over 6.5 miles an hour, no waiting, no breathing, roundabout, this way, that way etc etc. signs had gone - it looked lovely; there was just a street. And the traffic flow was better and safer. Everyone took their time, looked out for things, checked where and when they could turn/park/breathe etc. Fiendishly clever these dastardly foreigners what. I said what?
The Dogmother
I saw that too, but couldn't remember where it was, apparently people are more careful and considerate drivers when there aren't any signs.
