Lovemychooks
For those of you who live in Surrey I have just found out that Burpham Court Farm Park looks like it may be closing down. The farmers have apparently just been given notice by the National Trust to get off the land and have got 11 months to fight their case. The Environment Agency have also been flooding the farm, so as to divert water away from other areas, at least 6 times this year. The farmer is also in the foot and mouth and bluetongue area and cannot transport livestock which is obviously ruining his business The farmer asked if I could make it known that this is happening and give them some support. I felt really sorry for him
Snowy
That is such a shame. I haven't been down there, but after the foot and mouth episode a few years back Stoughton Farm Park in Leicester had to close. It was a real shame and a great loss to the area. I hope he's able to carry on.
BeckyBoo
That's terrible although not a huge surprise, last time we went there poor old Farmer Bob was having terrible trouble with the flooding, it's been in the local papers too. It will be a real shame becauase it's got a lovely atmosphere, much less commercialised than Bocketts. It's where all my three first collected an egg from under a hens bum! Lovemychooks
Well I said to the farmer that I would write to the National Trust and ask why they insist on closing him down but he said that 3 judges have made their decision and aren't going to allow the farm to be kept open. Obviously they are opposing this. I'm not really sure what to suggest
Lesley
How many of us are National Trust members? - I'm not but Carl is. Would letters make a difference?
Lovemychooks
Well I don't think it would hurt. I'm not a member but my Mum is so i'll be writing on her behalf too. Thanks for giving the farmer some much needed support
