Hen friend
Does anyone know if you can keep Seramas with other breeds hens?
SeramaSilly
Some people do but I would definitely say it would have to be with other bantams and not standard hens or hybrids. I would also say not to mix with pekins as they can be very fiesty. There's a blog called Carols Chickens if you would like to take a look - she has some some bantams with a flock of seramas
Lewis
A friend breeds and shows Serama, he keeps them with Belgian bantams but nothing bigger. There can be a big variation in sized and hardiness so some may overwinter outside in a well covered run while others need to be kept indoors. Hen friend
Thanks, I read the carols chickens serama section but didn't notice what bantam types she kept them with, I'll re look. Getting my first hens soon, been offered two Seramas but my understanding is you are better with three or more hens. I will try and find a third Serama. I've ordered the coop, i think its going to look really good. Just doing as much research as I can until I get them. So any Serama pointers would be greatly appreciated
mullethunter
You’re right - 3 is better than 2. I can’t give any advice on Seramas I’m afraid but I would say that Carols blog is brilliant.
