Richard
I was checking out the collective term for geese (in flight, in V formation, a skein, but on the water; a wedge) when I came across the following; These terms are archaic; they were once obsolete, but they have been revived somewhat in the 19th or 20th centuries: A building of rooks A murmuration of starlings A muster of peacocks A peep of chickens How about that? A peep of chickens. Wonderful - no longer do I have a flock, or even a noisy bunch or a disparate misplaced conglomeration of non laying pains in the b*t .... I now have a peep of chickens in my garden.
Snowy
I love it! 'Peep' suits a few in the back garden much better than a 'flock' doesn't it?
Egluntyne
I'd rather have a peep than a flock anyday!
Laura & CTB
a disparate misplaced conglomeration of non laying pains in the b*t .... Hmmm - I think I still prefer that one Richard
Richard
I'd rather have a peep than a flock anyday! I'd be careful - the obvious retort is 'have a peep at what?' Perhpas I should have titled the thread 'I've had a peep'
