kissinuk
Our eglu is on a base of bark chippings and our 2 chooks have got in the habit of throwing bark into the glub (god knows how!). Now that it's getting wetter outside it's becoming very messy, does anyone have any tips for keeping the glubs clean? I've tried raising them slightly but that didn't make much difference. We've got some chicken sitters coming soon and I want to make it as maintenance free as possible for them, but currently it's a case of removing and cleaning the glub everyday! Egluntyne
No cure I'm afraid. Mine poo and wash their feet in their Glugs too. It seems to enhance the flavour. We've established on the forum that hens really do not like clean water, so I wouldn't stress too much about it. I fill the Glugs every day, but I only wash them twice a week. I take the view that a bit of muck builds up their resistance.
Laura & CTB
I'm always finding bits of corn in the glub - think it must be some kind of chicken game I only change the water every couple of days - they much prefer to drink from puddles in the garden!
