Mrs Frugal
Anyone else getting multiple e-mail notifications for private messages or is it just me? I had 10 e-mails for one PM this morning ! Thought I'd better gauge the situation so that I can tell James if it's a widespread problem or just me.
Nicola H
Not happening to me Kate..................
Lesley
I bet you really like me then Kate as I must have sent you 6 PM's by now
The Dogmother
I've had that too Kate. Also I get an email for each posting to the same topic - I understand that it's only supposed to notify you once (regardless of the number of posts) until you have read them. I also got multiple emails for just one PM Thanks for trying to get it sorted.
Mrs Frugal
I think I might have sorted the topic reply notifications for you Clare. Let me know if they continue or if it's any particular topic and I'll twiddle about in admin but the PM notifications might be a gremlin in the system which James will need to hit with a big hammer! Glad it's not just me though !
The Dogmother
Thanks for that Kate. I wanted to get notifications, just not 5 or 6 for the same thread. I also get notifications and when I click on the link, it says that the thread doesn't exist - and IT DOES Big hammer needed, I think. Guest
Me too Kate! I haven't had a PM recently and that was OK last time I did. But I am getting multiple notifications for a thread, even if there's only been one addition (I think).
Guest
P.S. Yes I've had an email link which says the topic doesn't exist too!
The Dogmother
I've had a few of them since the forum migrated over to the new server.
Guest
Should I be notified when I was the one posting a reply? (Because I am!)
Mrs Frugal
Let me get this right before I go and change anything.... Clare - you want to be notified of replies but not several times for the same posting? Ginette - do you want to be notified of replies? I can easily switch off the topic reply notification for you both. I've turned yours off Clare but if you want to be notified, I'll switch it back again for you. Guest
Yes please Kate. I like to be notified of replies. Also because I no longer seem able to sign in, the replies are the only way I can access the club!
Cate in NZ
I'm another one getting multiple email notifications about PM's, on one occasion I got 6 emails, all about the same PM . Such a pity, at first glance I thought I was really popular Other times I'll just get the one, I can't see any rhyme or reason to it. It's not really a problem though, clutters up the inbox a bit, but I just delete them and no harm done. If a gentle tweak from James can fix it then great, but I'm not overly concerned about it. The Dogmother
That's right Kate, although I have changed my profile again (sorry) so that I do get notifications, it's just that I get one for each posting to the same topic. I really don't mind as I just delete them, but it seems daft. This is what it says on the email notification: You are receiving this email because you are watching the topic, "Pink Eglu" at Omlet. This topic has received a reply since your last visit. You can use the following link to view the replies made, no more notifications will be sent until you visit the topic. Which is why I think that it shouldn't be doing it. Sorry about this , but I hope that it helps James to sort it out. I usually check via my emails as I get red arrows in different places, or not at all if I log straight onto the site
Mrs Frugal
Yes please Kate. I like to be notified of replies. Also because I no longer seem able to sign in, the replies are the only way I can access the club! OK Ginette. I'll leave the notifications switched on but there's not a lot I can do to stop these topic e-mails coming in, I'm afraid. If you're having trouble logging in, PM me or click my e-mail button to let me know what the problem is and I can probably sort that out for you so you don't need to use the e-mails to get onto the forum. It's probably just something which needs tweaking in admin.
Popcorn
The PM you sent me yesterday Kate appeared 5 times in my emial inbox notifying me. I thought I was popular for a second or two!!
Mrs Frugal
I only got 2 notifications for yours ! I've e-mailed James but he's away at the moment so don't expect any action for a while .

Mrs Frugal
Blimey! That gremlin's back BIG TIME!!! Hopefully James will sort it when he gets back but if it's annoying for you, go to your profile and turn off the "Notify me of replies" until it's sorted.
