The Dogmother
I LIKE the window OPEN Gina - that's why I have to dress up for bed. Having said that, I get too hot in the summer and have to strip off - must have a wonky thermostat
buffie
Found a muddy walk this morning but can adapt it to be a bit cleaner as haven't got enough walking jeans to wash each day. Clocked up a fair bit of my step total so onwards and upwards. Finish work at 6.45 so I'll do a 20 min dash before dinner, round the village, looking rather silly swinging my arms. People are going to talk Oh well it may as well be me they are talking about and not someone else.. BBx
Aylana
I have decided to join in with the 10,000 steps a day. I bought a Pedometer in town today and have done 5000 steps since 2:30 this afternoon! Plus I did quite a bit of walking around this morning before I bought it. Yay! Of course whether I stay at that level after the sales are over and I'm not spending whole afternoons shopping remains to be seen.
Popcorn
Yes, Aylana, window shopping isn't quite the same is it!
Cate in NZ
Well done Aylana, sounds like a brilliant start I've not been able to find my pedometer yet, probably not a bad thing as I've walked very little over the past few days at work . I'll find it or buy a new one on Friday- I expect to be doing a bit of walking on Saturday, meeting my sister and neice for ice skating after the Kew Chicken Convention, so I fully intend to be all pedometered up by then- might as well start on a high
buffie
Welcome to 'step into 2006' Aylana, it's easy and cheap and kateA you'll easily find a pedometer on friday. Swing your arms and get ready to get fit..er!! BBx
The Dogmother
must try to get a pedometer soon Managed to get the ex to babysit tonight, so went to the gym for a very quick stint - 2km run on the treadmill - how boring, and some weights stuff. Not too bad. I'm longing for the lighter evenings so that I can go 'proper running'. I will do the Race for Life again this year, and I expect that Rosie will do it with me again too, so want to be reasonably fit.

Mel (& Paul)
I had a pedometer last year, but it seems to have disappeared (perhaps I threw it away in disgust!) I know I had real trouble getting anywhere near 10,000 steps - a lot of driving in my job, but I do things like park further away from the supermarket entrance (much easier to park than battle for the spaces right outside) and walking up and down the stairs at work. Paul is a postie, and when he wore his pedo he regularly did about 17,
Guest
Well done girls, frosty start here so will be nice going out on crisp ground. BBx
Guest
Yes, frosty here too. I've got a meeting all morning and a daughter on crutches, so walking 10000 might be quite tricky - er, impossible. Lots of running up and down stairs this afternoon perhaps?
Popcorn
ohhh Ginette....running up and down stairs....
Guest
I often do, it seems less effort than walking!
Lesley
I used to run up the stairs
The Dogmother
We've got loads of stairs here at work, and I try to run them - for some reason that seems easier in the morning than the afternoon - I can't imagine why
kazaddress
can i limp 10 steps instead?
Aylana
I didn't put my pedometer on this morning as I went to the gym to body combat and I thought that the bouncing up and down might confuse it. However when I got there the class had been cancelled so I spent 45 minutes on the treadmill instead where I could have had loads of steps recorded by now if I'd had it on! Guest
Console yourself Aylana by estimating how many steps you must have done. About 60 a minute? Times 45? Is that 2700? Call it 3000. That's good going! Better than me anyway. I had a 2 hour sedentary meeting! I've walked 3500 steps so far today.
Aylana
Thanks Ginette I reckon 3000 sounds about right! The pedometer recorded just over 6000 steps for the rest of the day so altogether that makes about 9000 which isn't too bad. Unfortunately I am at work today so am going to have to make excuses to walk around a lot! I work in an office and they don't encourage you to be active, they would rather have you chained to your desk.
buffie
I used to run up the stairs Hey don't get disheartened Lesley, you'd beat me hands down in water. I've got dodgy knees and feet so can't run. BBx
Aylana
Well thought I should give an update on this although everyone else seems to have gone very quiet! Yesterday (work day) 3946 Today (work day) 2019 so far There you have it, proof that work is bad for your health!!!
Sheilaz
Well, unless you run around in circles, like I do. Keep going, Aylana, it'll be interesting to see how the rest of the week goes. I'm looking forward to trying out mine (thanks Ginette!) as I have absolutely no idea how many steps I take in a usual day.
Nicola H
I didn't do very well yesterday only managed 3,461, but have made up for it today which was a work day I have managed 7,168, so some kinds of work are good for you Aylana...........I have spent today trailing around estate agents and viewing houses.......
