ANNOYED

Recommended Posts

Ok, so we had our first rehearsal for the school play today- The Visit and were told what parts we are playing. I've been told that I'm the camera man. TBH I am so annoyed not really about the part-although it is only 6 lines near the end.

What has annoyed me more is the fact a girl in my year who ended up with the lead role last year, has got the lead role AGAIN this year. In my mind this is VERY unfair. Especially as she didn't even turn up to the original auditions as she was on holiday and then suddenly turned up on the last Friday of term to do the read through. Also with last year's school play she turned up to less rehearsals than me, (I wasn't even a main part and just sat there most of the time).

When I said that I felt it was unfair-in the nicest possible way you have to understand to the teacher running the play she said that it wasn't based on that...Hmm, I'm just annoyed and needed to grumble....

I totally sympathise with you. The exact same thing happened to me at school. There was a girl in my year who was the favourite of the music teacher and she was lead in everything for years (I hate to think how annoyed the children in older years were!) I got my moment of glory though when one teacher had whole class auditions and I was voted by them to have the lead part!! Hurrah After that it always went back to the other girl again. We were good friends but it still ~~~~##### me off!

Good luck with the next production. Try joining a drama group outside school where this girl isn't involved! You'll look back and laugh about this when you're a star!!!!

I too sympathise... I am way over my own school years, but in my oldest daughter's school, the same girl got the lead part three years in a row... I do not mind my girl not having the lead part, but I think once a child had a chance to be the lead, another girl should have the part the next year...

I mentioned it to a teacher once, who appeared surprised and said she didn't know the girl (who is a nice girl by the way, nothing personal against her, if she gets given the lead aged 5, 6, and 7 she'd be silly to refuse it) had had the main part before, which is odd considering the whole school attends the production, and if someone doesn't remember the lead, what do they remember? Also, though I know teachers have a lot to deal with, that's something they should check...

Totally understand your frustration...

Poor you Liz. It's very frustrating when you are committed and thorough and don't get any recognition for that. :? My son turns up to every rugby training session and every match without fail. Then when there is a match he's lucky if he gets to play for the last 5 minutes. He loves it though, but I'd find that very frustrating.

I auditioned for the school play when I was in year 8. I took my best friend along for moral support. She got the part.:lol:

My son went with his friend to auditions for Bugsy Malone when they were about 15, just to keep him company.

You can guess the rest.:lol:

There were so few boys who turned up that the lady running the auditioned pleaded with my son to have a go.

I can understand your frustration and disappointment Liz, but if the show is a ticketed event to raise funds, the organisers will want to give the audience their moneys worth.

If there is a child with an exceptional talent, and your friend must fall into this category or they wouldn't keep using her, he or she will get the part.

View it as a lesson in life.

Am delighted you got the part of the camera man.
