Chicken Licken
rosie lives alongside the chookie girls very happily - she is a collie cross, but that said is now an old lady (12). The chooks are quite savvy too. Fenny was caught by my sisters dog over the summer - he is mostly wild from Afghanistan but fortunately did no harm. I think it is just a case of introducing them carefully and slowly until you can trust them together. Watch out for chicken poo eating - rosie is obsessed
little chickadee
Yeah - Holly adores eating chicken poo - can't say I see the attraction. She hasn't had any to eat now they're under house arrest. Hope she's coping!
Helen&Lee
My two spaniels were an absolute nightmare when we first got chooks - ran around there run barking and highly excited. We then tried taking them out on leads but that was as bad - they nearly pulled our arms out of socket - we had visions of having to split the garden etc. We then brought a Supersoaker water gun, let them out they ran straight over to the run - 3/4 well aimed squirts and they haven't got so excited about them since. The water gun now sits by the door - we have also stopped them barking at the gate with it We are amazed, and have started trying to take the dogs out when the chooks are free ranging, Dylan ignores them, Barney has run at them but he's actually a bit scared of them, one flap of the wings and hes back in the house I would not leave the dogs out with the chooks free-ranging, but am hopefull that the day will come There is No way though that Dylan will ever let the chooks in His house - when they are on the patio steps looking through the doors he is not happy Helen
