Cinnamon
I love musicals, & have loads on DVD, much to the amusement of my family My favourites are 'Seven Brides For Seven Brothers', 'Fiddler On The Roof', 'Calamity Jane' & I also think for a modern day musical you can't beat 'The Adventures of Priscilla,Queen Of The Desert' I was brought up watching them with my Mum who loved them.Sadly my daughters won't watch the old classic MGM ones, but do like Moulin Rouge & Priscilla. I love this time of year when they seem to show more musicals on TV.....they just make me feel happy & festive Any more fans out there? Also the Rocky Horror Show and Dr Doolittle (the original with, I think, Rex Harrison?) Not very serious musicals I know, but I love'em! Guest
(I actually haven't watched very many, but enjoyed the ones I have seen - maybe I need to make an effort to watch some more! ) oh you should, they're just brilliant! Musicals are like marmite I've found, people either love em or hate em but I simply LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE them, they make me feel good and I can forget how poopy the world can be while I'm watching them. Total feel good escapism, nothing like it I was brought up on them and my mum and dad used to sing all the songs around the house, they're in my blood! Janty
Sorry, haven't seen Phantom. Saw Joseph in the summer hols with Lee Mead. i didn't think that it was the best Joseph I'd ever seen but my son enjoyed it. We went to see Rock Horror earlier this year and dressed up, of course. Also love Evita, King and I, Priscilla, Blood Brothers, Calamity jane and lots more.

Guest
Has anyone seen 'The Phantom of the Opera' at the theatre?I am thinking af taking the family over Christmas Hmmm for about the first 10 years it was on I think I saw it every year, the first year I hadn't booked I won a trip to NY with tickets to see Phantom on Broadway. I've had good seats, bad seats and seen good and bad casts. Of course I queued for hours to see it when it first opened so yes I've seen the original cast too. Les Mis is also excellent as is We will Rock YOu. Oh any musical is good for me - I love all the old classics too. Lest all get together one night and watch one! Cinnamon
I've had good seats, bad seats and seen good and bad casts. Ok, so I am looking at the seating plan. As you are in the know, where would be the best place to sit?
Guest
About 6 or 7 rows back in the stalls right in the middle - amazing when the chandalier comes down on top of your! There are lots of restricted view seats in that theatre, and some that don't even get sold as restricted view. I once had an expensive seat in the dress circle and could only see half the stage!!!! Olly
I lurve musicals - after years of saying I didn't like them, I realised I just hadn't seen the right ones. I'm afraid I can't stand Andrew Lloyd-Webber, but as far as films go, give me all the Fred Astaire stuff, Judy Garland, and OF COURSE The Sound of Music! Rodgers & Hart, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Irving Berlin - I like good old-fashioned song. I went to see 'Guys and Dolls' three times at the theatre, and it was absolutely fabulous. This wasn't just because Euan McGregor was in it, honest!
Tina C
I love West Side Story - one of my all time favourite films.
