lozkate
A couple of weeks ago there were a few folk on a thread asking if they could expect their hens to start laying. My post was a rather feeble non-event. Well as you'll note from the sign-off below our second lite sussex produced today, defying some of the literature I've read. A good size too at 58g. She spent a long time in the nest box with the other two layers desperate and noisily protesting at the monolpoly (even tho there was plenty of space in the middle of the nest box they all seem to want to lay in exactly the same spot. So mid winter and three eggs today from three layers. Just one more to go and I reckon she wont be long. Hope springs eternal. Shortest day soon! Ain't Nobody Here
That's great news . Congratulations . I'm keeping my fingers crossed - Molly isn't dashing away the minute I go near her so I'm hoping for some crouching soon . Still can't explain why she laid 10 eggs in September and none since . Ain't Nobody Here
Just weighed 4 of mine and they're all around 55-58grams. Is that good? My averages for December are 63g and 57g (both include whopping double yolkers at 76k & 74g ) so I'd say yours were perfectly acceptable . Have you seen the Egg Tally spreadsheet created by Starboyhull? If you're that way inclined, it's a good way of keeping a note of eggs/weights. Here's a link to his spreadsheet: http://www.2-source.com/chickens/eggtallyv1.xls
Daywalker
had a couple at 63 and 64 since tgen. No double yokers yet.
