chickenlover
ive just been reading up on chicken disease, and i read somewhere that you should get your chickens vaccinated for mareks disease at 1 day old, i got my chickens from the school when they were a week old and i dont think they have had this vaccination, should i be worried? They have been laying since about the 22nd of december
Ain't Nobody Here
I think it's only recommended to vaccinate if you have a large flock so unless you've got loads of hens you should be OK. Someone will confirm/deny this soon, I'm sure .
Egluntyne
Maybe you could find out where the school got them from and contact the supplier to enquire.
Katie
mareks is usually only seen in youngsters as well, so yours should be ok if theyre at point of lay
Lesley
We haven't had any of our own hatchlings vaccinated. We lost one to what appeared to be Mareks, she was just coming to POL. We isolated her when she became ill and we had no problems with any of the others.
