Karen & co.
I've just been flicking through the Lakeland catelogue (perhaps I need to get out more!!!) and saw the Remoska for cooking and baking, I just wondered if anyone has one, and what they think of them? We have an Aga which is fab for nearly everything, but not too great for sponge cakes unless you buy the cake baker (£80ish!) Could also take it in the caravan if they are as good as they appear. Just wondered, Karen x
freerange
We have an Aga which is fab for nearly everything, but not too great for sponge cakes unless you buy the cake baker (£80ish!) What recipes are you using? I use one of Mary Berry's that uses oil instead of solid fats & it always comes out well, even when I can't find the scales & so the quantities may not be spot on. I usually use the weight of the eggs to weigh everything else (mums method!!) but the mary berry sounds interesting! Karen x
Mel (& Paul)
I would be interested in the Remoska but would like to know if they are as good as they sound as they are quite expensive
Guest
My parents have a Remoska and they think it is just the best thing they have ever bought! They hummed and hawed for months about getting one, as it seemed like quite an expense for a retired couple, but they use it everyday! It also gets taken away in the caravan, and they completely recommend it for people who caravan. Mum says: BUY IT!!!!!!
Guest
It took me almost 2 years to buy a Ramoska - as it did seem a lot of money f or us (a retired couple too). I have now had it for two years, and it is brilliant. Great for 2 - 4 people portion size meals But as with everything to get your money's worth you have to use it. I haven't used it for sponges as I have a double oven, but I can see no reason why it should not be perfect. It makes great everything else - toad in the whole, giant yorkshire puds, rice, fish, baked apples are the best! The list is endless. The heat come from the top - so you need to put things like sausages around the edges where the heat is. But it is not essential. If you have any particular questions just ask - it is a bit difficult to list everything. Great for husbands who can't cook. My OH makes a mean sausages with onions and gravy in it - serves it up with mash - a real treat!
Karen & co.
Thanks for the replys folks, and chookiehens mum!! They have 2 sizes, and with 4 children, hellbent on devouring anything that hits a plate (usually!) I'd need the bigger one, but the thought of using it in the caravan sounds good, for pizzas etc. Just a case of finding the cash!! Kooringa, did you get the cook book that Lakeland sell or just trial and error? Karen x

Kooringa, did you get the cook book that Lakeland sell or just trial and error? Karen x Coo for a minute there I thought you thought I was chookiehens mum - although probably old enough to be! I just used the book that came free with it - but just like anything else - you do a couple of recipes and then just throw stuff in like you do normally when you cook. I didn't even know that they now do 2 sizes and also a recipe book! When I did follow one recipe for yorkshire pud, I followed it to the letter - and wished that I hadn't. Usually I just throw all the ingredients together as I have been doing it for years - but as we had a special visitor I thought I would measure everything out and do one big one to make sure that it was 100% perfect. The mixture was rather runny, but I just figured it was because of a different method of cooking. It never did cook. When my friend came around a month later I asked her about it (she bought one on my recommendation) and she checked her book and phoned me - mine had a typing error ! Doh. I will have too look up the Lakeland web site and see what they have now then regards a book. I just use it like I would an oven if I only have one thing to roast or bake. Great for chicken pieces. I put in frozen things and let them thaw then cook them. I just don't think about it really. It would be brilliant in a caravan - just keep the children away from it. As I said the heat is in the lid - so is dangerously hot - so respect it as you would a kettle - also the bottom gets hot naturally. I used mine in my main over the other day. I did a giant sausage toad with my own throw - it - in method and must have made a bit too much pud mixuture - well actually I blame it on my chooks as everything rises like crazy since I started using their eggs. The yorkshire pud rose to the lid and I could smell it burning - it wasn't but it had risen so high that it was touching it. So I just took the lid off and put the tin in the oven for the last few minutes. Oh and they BIG plus is they are so easy to clean - you just wash out the non stick tin. If you buy one, tell them that I should be on commission will you If you think of anything else just ask
