chrisnrob
I was just wondering what other people have for their lunch when they're at work? I'm a bit fed-up of the usual sandwich malarkey and am looking for some ideas for different things Rob
Egluntyne
Salad taken in a lock and lock box. Homemade soup to heat in microwave
chrisnrob
Salad taken in a lock and lock box. Homemade soup to heat in microwave I do tend to have salads more in the summer - don't feel like them on a chilly day. Second idea is good, except I found out that our work microwave blew up last week!! Rob
Cinnamon
Get yourself one of those great wide necked flasks which you can put chunky soup, pasta, casserole or noodles in to. My daughters get really bored of sanwiches at school day in day out,so I got a couple of these & they take in all sorts now. Good way to use up left overs too Or how about some Taramasalata/houmos & Pittas
chrisnrob
Or how about some Taramasalata/houmos & Pittas [/color] I've done this a couple of times in the past, but only when I haven't had a meeting in the afternoon!! Like the wide-necked flash idea though... Rob
craftyhunnypie
Ok - this is a slimming world recipe...good hot or cold. Basically it's a quiche without the pastry! You start with a tub of cottage cheese & 4 eggs beat together. You can then add anything. I usually finely chop an onion & chuck it in my ovenproof square dish. Then I chop some ham & throw that it. Sometimes I add some chopped boiled potatoes & some peas. But usually just the onion & ham. I then pour the cottage cheese & egg mixture over the top of the onion & ham in the dish & spread it to the corners. Slice a tomatoe and place this on top. 160 degrees C for half an hour in the oven. Slice & serve hot or take to work the next day with you. Or buy a pasta express! Great if you don't have a microwave at work! Cooks pasta just in boiling water - don't know how, but it does! You could make your own savoury croissants - pack of that croissant dough from Aldi. Some bacon & emmental cheese in the middle of each triangle - cook as normal. Now those are nice! Make a meatloaf & take a slice of that with some pickle? Emma.x
lisa33
I like to add mayonaise, sweetcorn and hazlenuts to cold rice and have it with rivita's or salad. Also cold pasta with mayonaise, peas & sweetcorn. Just makes a change from soggy sandwiches.
Lesley
I take sachets of cous-cous - you just have to add hot water. Nice on a cold day. I take a bit of grated cheese to put on top.
BeckyBoo
My other half takes pitta wraps to work, chicken or cold beef with salad and dressing. I take cous cous as well, just add a stock cube it's lovely! Pasta salad is good too, or baed potato with tuna or cheese (once your microwave is working again!) chrisnrob
Oooh - cous-cous, I'd forgotten about that - yum! I used the breadmaker tonight as I remembered that we had some home-made leek and potato soup in the freezer. Only to find that Chris had eaten it when he'd been off work the week before Christmas I like craftyhunnypie's quiche idea too - might try that one for both of us once Chris is off the 7-day juice plan. And the savoury croissant idea - will look out for that dough in Aldi. Actually, can you just make my lunches and send them to me? I did buy a pasta express the other day but it didn't taste very nice. And then I read the list of ingredients... Rob
craftyhunnypie
Eh? Pasta express isn't a packet of instant pasta..it's a cooker. It's like a clear plastic tube thing. I got mine from Betterware, but I think JML sell them too as well as some of the other shopping channels. Lunches by post eh??? Could this be a new business opportunity? he he Quiche is on our lunch menu tomorrow. I suppose it's kind of like a cheesy eggy frittata! We love it! The croissant dough is in a sort of tin, in the fridges - usually next to the Sandwiches & the milk. Enjoy!!!! Emma.x

My mistake I swear that the manky instant pot pasta thing I bought last week was called Pasta Express. I will go look at those other things. Now I fully understand your comments about not knowing how it works. Lunches by post - who said anything about post? I expect them delivered in person Rob
