ubereglu
Well as our computer is officially old and awful we're going to order a laptop soon. This computer is now 7 years old and has a tendency to crash and then take half hour to reboot once it's sorted out system registry and odd things like that... However it seems to keep crashing when me and Dad and looking at Laptop sites...hmm, perhaps computers are smarter after all.
Egluntyne
You could be right. It's a bit scary isn't it?
BeckyBoo
A 7 year old computer, that's practically an antique in techno terms isn't it? Mrs Bertie
ubereglu
A 7 year old computer, that's practically an antique in techno terms isn't it? Mrs Bertie Erm...Yes Well technology has improved so quickly! BTW it has 64MB RAM, now if you know a little bit about techie terms for computers it's very BAD. They haven't made ones like this for years and the one we are looking at has 1GB RAM/2GB, (still deciding!)
Geoid
if you're getting a laptop with windows vista on it, get 2gb ram.
One Man Banned
you beat me to it Fred Best advice when buying is to get as much of the best spec as you can as it'll date much sooner without it A xx

ubereglu
Well it's finally allowed Dad to order one!!! It's a HP one and it's got 1GB RAM and 120GB hard disk. We're buying from this site as reccomended by a friend of his at work, it's roughly £370, which is good value in my book! Plus Mum still has a £20 capital one voucher and we're planning to buy some DVD's with it!

Some very low price stuff at dabs.com But why did you get a laptop? would of been cheaper if you got a desktop pc.
ubereglu
It turned out that it wasn't in the end, as once you'd added all of the components together it mostly came to be more expensive with the amount of software and RAM total etc.
